The audience plays an important role for a thriving music life. The music must be visible to the public, and it must engage as diverse an audience as possible.
Danish Composers' Society wants to support the important strategic work of reaching its potential audience as a concert or festival organizer, and all applicants for the Production Pool can apply for support for audience development.
If you are applying as a festival, concert association or as a representative for a longer concert series, it is a requirement that your application contains a plan for your audience work.
Support for strategic audience development is applied for as part of the overall production application. A thorough description of the audience effort involved must be attached, and expenses for the effort must be stated in the total budget.
What should the application include?

In your plan for audience development, you must define whether the goal of the effort is:
- to attract a larger audience?
- to attract a more diverse audience?
- or to work with an existing audience?
You must also define the specific audience by responding to:
- who the effort is aimed at?
- what the strategy is for achieving this goal, ie. what actions and activities are you planning?
- how your marketing plan supports the strategy for the audience development?
Also justify your choice of goals and strategy.
What should the budget include?
The total budget must state how many funds have been allocated for the audience development part, stating what expenses are associated with the effort. Also, remember to include expenses for conducting audience surveys.
Is there any additional requirements for the application?
No - you choose which strategy and initiatives are appropriate for your festival, concert association, concert series or project, but the grant depends on how well prepared the strategy is.
